The permanent end of pugs for me was sometime in late 2005. From what I've seen, the playerbase has only gotten worse.

Bring on the full hero teams!

Good point made by Jenn with hero flagging. If they are going to remove the limit, maybe it's time to consider some sort of hero formations so they're not balled up waiting for AoE to wipe them. I don't see another way to manage seven AI.

There are so many consumables and with hero teams already paving over PvE with ease, there's nothing here that would break anything, it's just more of what we have. I'm pretty excited if they can pull most of it off.

7 heroes, why stop there...there are areas for 12 party members. Also how will they change the GUI for inventory to now include more heroes. Then ofcourse the compass flags.....

exactly................ i stopped getting into PUG's (other then the elite areas) a few months after factions release. it was guildie's, alliance mates, friends that werent part of my guild or alliance or henchies back then. then we got our heros in nightfall it just made it easier to not have to worry who i was playing with when it came time to do something if no one is around. at this point of GW, what difference does it make. now when i get on, about 3-4 times a week, my friends list and guild is a ghost town. granted my friends list is mostly people in the alliance guilds but im lucky anymore if more then 2 or 3 are on when i play. if we werent ment to play with 7 heros then why in the hell do we have so many? Anet didnt have to give us more but they did which led to the heros making the game easier for some due to stuff like the triple necro team or broken skills or game mechanics with the E/Mo protter as examples.

now really does 7 heros make the game easier then a full party of humans with the max amount of PvE skills on each bar? no. a full human team is easier and more powerfull and probably faster. 7 heros just make it easier for the people like Lanier pointed out, who play the game at their own pace, enjoy playing the game but do to real life stuff cant sit down and dedicate 1 or more hours of uninterrupted game play, will usually start something and finish it later. i happen to also be one of those people. 3 heros and henchies allow us to do this now but 7 heros give us more options on a team build in tougher areas. when your title chasing, other then missions, its usually difficult to get a full team and lately from what ive seen, if its not the current Z-mission or bounty its difficult to get a full team as most outposts when im on the game are pretty empty

7 heroes will make the game easier for people who understand and develop good team builds.

However, it will have the opposite effect on those who are newbies or still learning.

For both groups, the fun factor will increase, nevertheless.

For those who haven't listened to the interview, he talked about how the original decision on more heroes was based upon the problems it would cause in PvP. But, in his opinion, the PvP changes have done away with those problems. He also said that his job as Lead for the Live Team is to review previous decisions if there is a good reason.

He also said the new Cantha content would be in a new area, not in the existing playable areas. He said that they have seen the problems caused by using the existing Kryta to play out the WiK content. Although there really was not a choice in that case.

Heroes still can't use the overpowered EOTN PvE skills, and most of the team builds you see around for speedclears and the like incorporate these skills, so there will still be room for those sorts of groups...I'm all for seven heroes.

thats good. i hadnt listened to the interview so i wasnt aware of this. its a good thing there will be a new are that doesnt totally mess up the stuff in the normal content. maybe there will be like a new island floating off the mainland in cantha?(another came from a tropical place outside the known world maybe?) and its carrying some new form of life thats dangerous to everything the canthans know and love, so your sent by teh emporer to go eradicate this threat before it becomes an empidemic like shiro did?

just guessing tho. thatd be a preety cool plot tho

Oho! I really hope they can pull off some of these changes. I can't wait to head back to Cantha.

Now let's not get too excited about going back to Cantha, yet. We still have to go through the Keiran/Gwen drama that's still in the works. Though I do suspect that the events for Cantha would have something to do with the heir for the throne. If not, I would expect something else that would at least continue the trend of filling the background for GW2, like the WiK event did.

I'm guessing that what's exciting the players the most is the possibility of a 7 hero team. Many has asked for it and Anet continually denied it and vowed it was final. Yet, we seem to see someone from Anet giving in. Could it really mean we will have 7 heroes like so many have asked for? I'm going to stick my ears out for this.

Im all for having 7 heros, I suggested it during WiK and still think it should be implemented. It would allow those of us that work odd hours to get things done easier. And, I cant wait to see the types of hero team builds that would evolve from this. I would rather have the game be easier and more exciting, rather than nerfed to hell and tedious. The elite areas, most dungeons, and SCs will probably still be done better with real players anyway.

Adding formations for heros sounds like an awesome way to go. A simple scatter command that keeps them just far enough away from each other so they dont all get hit by the same AoE would be a good start.

Hearing that interview disheartned me a little. I have officially given up hope of seeing a decent skill update this month. Im also concerned that the demo for GW2 ate into thier resources. Does this mean they will push back GW:B/updates another 2-4 weeks for PAX? Is this the kind of treatment GW2 will get when they start working on thier new expansion for GW2? Overall, I'm very pleased with Stummes vision for GW(many of his thoughts parallel my own). The only question now is can they get this done or are the die hard GW fans going to be the perpetual Charlie Brown with Anet-Lucy holding the updates football?

I agree with 7 heroes they will have to revamp the ai in several chapters. I can already beat easily the ai in Prophecies with just 3 heroes and myself and I do very little.

They'll have to add a screen for changing items and skills for heroes only. Then, you would add 3 heroes to control, then 4 heroes you can't control other than with the global flag. You know, they would be like henchmen, but with your builds and your chosen professions.

All: I just want to emphasize that some of what John is talking about in the interview is not planned, so for example please don't go thinking you'll get 7 Hero parties in the future just because John says he is open to them. Thanks.

Also remember the Live Team is not large. It takes a long time to get things completed.

Read: Don't get too excited, none of this is going to happen in the near future.
